Ends 27-year partnership with Nike Woods announced Monday that he and Nike have ended their partnership of 27 years and plans to reveal his next apparel deal at the Genesis Invitational Feb. 15-18. Impact Woods has been a Nike brand ambassador since 1996 when founder Phil Knight inked the then 20-year-old Woods to a five-year, $40 million deal after he turned pro following his third straight win at the U.S. Amateur. Woods used Nike equipment until they stopped producing clubs and balls in 2016. Since then Woods has been using TaylorMade clubs and Bridgestone balls. There have been rumors of TaylorMade, which was formerly owned by Adidas, of stepping up its involvement in the apparel space. It will certainly be weird to see Woods on the golf course without the swoosh on his cap, but the 15-time major champion seems to be excited about the next chapter. Woods said he is hopeful in 2024 to play about a tournament per month and it appears that barring any injury setback that the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club should be his season debut.
