Lands on injured list Civale was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with left glute soreness, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Impact The 26-year-old righty exited his previous start with glute cramps but appeared set to make his next turn through the rotation Thursday in Detroit, but he's instead headed to the injured list. It still doesn't appear to be a serious injury, but Civale will nonetheless be out for the next couple weeks. Konnor Pilkington will be promoted from Triple-A Columbus to start Thursday's series opener against the Tigers.

Dealing with cramp Civale exited Friday's game against the Tigers due to a left glute cramp, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Civale tweaked his glute while covering first base in the top of the seventh inning Friday, and he was immediately removed from the game. The right-hander will presumably be monitored by the team's medical staff in the coming days, but his initial diagnosis of a cramp is somewhat encouraging. If Civale is cleared to make his next turn through the rotation, he tentatively lines up to start on the road against Houston on Wednesday.

Exits with apparent injury Civale was removed from Friday's game against the Tigers in the top of the seventh inning due to an apparent leg injury, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Civale gave up at least four runs in each of his first six starts this season, but he was much more effective early in Friday's outing. He allowed an unearned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three in 6.1 innings but appeared to tweak something in his leg while covering first base in the top of the seventh inning. It's not yet clear whether the injury will force Civale to miss additional time.

Crushed for six runs Civale (1-3) yielded six runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Twins.

Impact Civale got off to a rough start, allowing a pair of solo home runs to Byron Buxton and Jorge Polanco in the first inning. He managed to keep Minnesota scoreless for the next few innings before he and Bryan Shaw were tagged with eight combined runs in the fifth. Civale has now given up six runs in three of his last four starts, inflating his ERA to 9.84 through 24.2 frames. He's currently lined up face the Tigers at home next week.
