Backs into win No. 4 Cimber (4-0) picked up the win but blew the save in Monday's victory over the Red Sox, giving up one hit without allowing a run in the eighth inning.

Impact While the sidearmer's own line in the box score was clean, he did allow two inherited runners to score, costing Jose Berrios the win as Cimber left the mound with the score tied 2-2. Bo Bichette's grand slam in the bottom of the frame then gave the right-hander another vultured win. Cimber's importance to the Blue Jays' bullpen is highlighted by the fact that he's recorded a win (four), save (one) or hold (three) in all eight of his appearances so far in 2022.

Impact Jordan Romano had pitched both Thursday and Friday, leaving him unavailable for Saturday's game. Cimber stepped into the ninth inning role in Romano's absence and maintained a one-run lead to earn his first save of the season. He surrendered a leadoff single, but struck out the next batter he faced before inducing a double play to end the game. Cimber has been excellent early on in the campaign, maintaining a 2.25 ERA with a 6:0 K:BB while also picking up three holds across eight innings. While he may pick up saves at random points in the season, Cimber is not a candidate for the closer role so long as Romano remains healthy.

Impact Starter Ross Stripling only lasted four innings, and Cimber was judged to be the most effective of the Blue Jays' relievers even though he allowed an inherited runner to score after entering the game with two on and one out in the sixth inning. Cimber has been one of the biggest beneficiaries in the league of an abbreviated spring training that didn't let most starting pitchers get fully stretched out, but his opportunities to vulture wins in this fashion could dry up quickly over the next week or two. His 1.69 ERA, 0,38 WHIP and 4:0 K:BB through 5.1 innings over four appearances still mark him as a key member of the Toronto bullpen, however.
