Headed for free agency The Royals declined Frazier's mutual option for 2025 on Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Impact Frazier saw only 294 plate appearances in 2024 -- his only campaign with the Royals -- his fewest in a full season since 2016. He also performed poorly by maintaining just a .576 OPS with four home runs and three stolen bases. Frazier may be able to find a major-league deal due to his defensive versatility, though his days as a near everyday starter are likely to be over.

Undergoing thumb surgery Frazier will undergo surgery on his right thumb this week, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact Frazier strained the thumb back in June and required a brief injured list stint at the time. The exact nature of the procedure he will have isn't clear, but Frazier should be fully healthy well ahead of spring training. The utility player has an $8.5 million mutual option for 2025.
