Second half slide continues Garcia went 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts in Friday's 6-0 loss to Boston. Impact Garcia, who was an unexpected asset upon his arrival to Texas in early April and made the All-Star team, has not been the same hitter since the break. Over 31 games, Garcia is slashing .172/.226/.353 with a 33.9 K%. It's the old story of pitchers adjusting to an unknown batter, who makes his adjustment only to have pitchers adapt to that. "I want to see more consistency, more discipline," Rangers manager Chris Woodward told Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. "It's a little frustrating. It's not the same at-bat quality we saw early on. He's going to chase some, but sometimes he gets almost too careful and then that makes him chase even more." The Rangers will continue to deploy Garcia and hope he can fight through it and finish strong. Woodward added that this is a "chance to prove he's an everyday player."
