Knocked around in debut Marsh (0-1) allowed five runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five over four-plus innings to take the loss Friday versus the Dodgers.

Impact Marsh drew a tough assignment for his debut, and it took Mookie Betts just five pitches to welcome the right-hander to the majors. Betts also homered in the third inning and added an RBI single in the fourth after Marsh ran into more trouble. He had a combined 4.62 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 62.1 innings between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha prior to his debut, and it's likely Marsh will be heading back to the minors soon, as he was filling in for Jordan Lyles (illness).

Officially promoted The Royals recalled Marsh ahead of his start Friday against the Dodgers.

Impact Friday marks the 25-year-old righty's MLB debut after putting up a 2.40 ERA and 1.33 WHIP through 15 innings with Triple-A Omaha. Marsh will be filling in for Jordan Lyles -- who was scratched from his scheduled start due to illness -- and he will most likely return to the minors after his spot start. James McArthur was optioned to Omaha in a corresponding move.

To make MLB debut Friday Marsh will be called up to start for the Royals on Friday versus the Dodgers, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Impact Jordan Lyles was supposed to take that turn, but he's been scratched because of an illness. Marsh, a second-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Arizona State University, has pitched to a rather uninspiring 4.62 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 75:31 K:BB in 62.1 innings (14 starts) this season between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha. He is not a recommended fantasy streamer against Los Angeles.

Sent to Double-A Marsh was optioned to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Friday.

Impact Marsh spent a brief amount of time in Triple-A toward the end of last season, but he will return to Double-A to begin the 2023 campaign. He logged a 7.32 ERA and 1.67 WHIP through 114.1 Double-A innings last year.
