Surrenders five in win Cobb (4-2) won Saturday's 12-5 game over against Seattle, going seven innings and allowing five runs on three hits and a walk with six strikeouts.
Impact Cobb gave up all five runs in the fourth inning, headlined by a Jake Fraley Grand Slam, and fell behind 5-1 but Los Angeles was able to storm back with 11 unanswered runs. Impact The right-hander only fired 58 of 101 pitches for strikes, but Cobb mostly avoided ball fours and got plenty of strike threes in his longest outing, and second quality start, of the season. He's won both his starts since returning to the rotation from the IL, and Cobb will carry a 3.78 ERA and 43:12 K:BB through 33.1 innings into his next turn.

He struggled to a 5.48 ERA in five starts prior to the injury, but his 2.52 FIP and 2.64 xFIP told a very different story and suggested that he'd have far better results if not for a .431 BABIP. His 30.4 percent strikeout rate is nearly double his 16.8 percent mark from 2020, while his 55.2 percent groundball rate is his best mark since 2014. Jose Quijada was optioned in a corresponding move.

Could return this week Cobb (blister) is making progress and could come off the injured list later this week, the Associated Press reports.
Impact Cobb hasn't pitched since May 4, when he allowed two unearned runs across five innings and struck out eight batters against Tampa Bay. The right-hander subsequently went on the 10-day IL with the blister issue, which he believes will require management through the remainder of the season, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Cobb has blown away his previous career trend with a superb 30.4 percent strikeout rate this season, though his 5.48 ERA is far less promising. However, hitters have logged an absurd .431 BABIP against him, so Cobb's 2.64 xFIP provides reason for optimism if he is able to successfully manage the blister.
