Impact He received the first save opportunity since Hansel Robles was traded Friday. With Taylor Rogers possibly missing the rest of the season with a thumb injury, Colome may become Minnesota's closer by default. The right-hander began the season as Minnesota's closer, but he was moved to low-leverage roles after he struggled with an 8.31 ERA and three blown saves in April. He's improved the last month with a 3.72 ERA, 8.4 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9 in July. However, the closer role for the Twins could be in flux as the team may want to give Jorge Alcala and other younger players opportunities as the team looks toward 2022.

Impact Colome began the season as Minnesota's closer, but was moved to low-leverage roles after he struggled with a 8.31 ERA and three blown saves in April. He has improved since with a 4.00 ERA and 8.0 K/9 since May 1, but walks remain an issue as he has a 4.0 BB/9 over that span. He'll likely remain in middle relief and lower leverage roles unless he improves significantly for a long stretch. Since he's on a one-year deal, it's also likely he's traded or released at some point in the next month or so with the Twins far out of playoff contention.

Moving to low-leverage role Colome is being moved to a lower-leverage role for the time being, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Impact Manager Rocco Baldelli said he spoke to Colome earlier Tuesday to let him know. Taylor Rogers will likely get the majority of the save chances for now, while Hansel Robles might be the next man up. Colome is 2-for-5 in save chances and has given up 10 hits and six earned runs over his last four innings (five appearances).

The bigger issue for fantasy managers is trying to discern the bullpen pattern and Baldelli didn't give any hints. It would seem likely Colome will be the primary option in the ninth inning, especially with Rogers likely to face key lefties before the final outs, but Baldelli has mostly managed his bullpen in his career without regard for the save statistic.
