INJURIES

Becomes free agent Dickerson elected free agency Monday.
Impact Dickerson spent the majority of the 2022 season at Triple-A Gwinnett after being designated for assignment in April, and he's decided to test his luck elsewhere heading into the offseason. The veteran outfielder appeared in 13 games for Atlanta in 2022, going 4-for-33 with one home run, two RBI and three runs scored.
OCTOBER 17, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Remains in organization Dickerson cleared waivers Saturday and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Impact Dickerson was the outfielder to lose his roster spot when Ronald Acuna returned from the injured list, but he'll remain in Atlanta's organization and could still fill a role later in the year. His .121/.194/.212 season slash line is quite poor, but he's hit .255/.325/.460 for his career and could still be useful in at least a part-time role if he recaptures that form.

He's back! Acuña returns to Braves after major knee injury

He's back
APRIL 28, 2022 • Associated Press
Loses roster spot with Acuna back Atlanta designated Dickerson for assignment Thursday.
Impact With Ronald Acuna (knee) cleared to return from his minor-league rehab assignment to make his 2022 MLB debut Thursday against the Cubs, Dickerson will lose his spot on the 40-man roster and 28-man active roster. The 31-year-old had been filling a large-side platoon role at designated hitter for most of the season, turning in a paltry .121/.194/.212 slash line over 36 plate appearances. Even if Dickerson goes unclaimed off waivers, Atlanta could release him rather than outrighting him to the minors, which would allow him to pursue a more favorable opportunity elsewhere.
APRIL 28, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Second straight start vs. righty Dickerson will serve as Atlanta's designated hitter and No. 6 batter in Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact Dickerson will be included in the starting nine against a right-handed pitcher (Mark Leiter) for the second game in a row, suggesting he's usurped Orlando Arcia as Atlanta's preferred option at DH. Both Dickerson and Arcia will see their opportunities at both DH and in the corner outfield take a hit once Ronald Acuna (knee) is cleared to make his 2022 debut, possibly as soon as this weekend.
APRIL 27, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Clubs first homer of 2022 Dickerson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 9-7 loss to the Marlins.
Impact His fourth-inning blast off Elieser Hernandez gave Atlanta a short-lived 4-2 lead in the wild contest. Dickerson hasn't seen much playing time or success to begin the season, as Saturday's homer was his first of the year and only his second hit in 25 at-bats.
APRIL 24, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Absent from lineup vs. righty Dickerson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
Impact The lefty-hitting Dickerson's 1-for-21 start to the season has seemingly resulted in him losing hold of his strong-side platoon role at designated hitter. He'll be on the bench Wednesday for the third straight game, with his latter two absences from the lineup coming against right-handed starting pitchers in Walker Buehler and Tony Gonsolin. Dickerson's struggles at the plate have allowed Orlando Arcia to settle into a near-everyday role, though both Arcia and Dickerson will likely see their opportunities dwindle as soon as Ronald Acuna (knee) is ready to return from the 10-day injured list.
APRIL 20, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Idle against lefty Dickerson is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.
Impact Washington is deploying a lefty starting pitcher (Patrick Corbin) for the second day in a row, so the lefty-hitting Dickerson will remain on the bench. Platoon mate Orlando Arcia gets another turn as Atlanta's designated hitter.
APRIL 12, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Idle versus lefty Dickerson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals.
Impact The lefty-hitting Dickerson served as Atlanta's designated hitter for three of the team's first four games, going hitless with a walk across 10 plate appearances. He'll take a seat Monday with southpaw Josh Rogers on the mound for Washington, allowing the righty-hitting Orlando Arcia to pick up a start. Atlanta appears content to lean on a platoon of Dickerson and Arcia at the DH spot to begin the season, but once Ronald Acuna (knee) is back in action, both players will likely see their opportunities dwindle.
APRIL 11, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
On bench Friday Dickerson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds.
Impact Dickerson hit eighth as the designated hitter Thursday for Opening Day and went 0-for-2 before being replaced by a pinch hitter. The 31-year-old figures to see plenty of at-bats this season but is unlikely to start much against left-handed pitching, like Cincinnati's starter for Friday, Reiver Sanmartin.

DeSclafani, Giants reach agreement on $36M, 3-year contract

Right-hander Anthony DeSclafani has reached agreement on a $36 million, three-year contract with the San Francisco Giants
NOVEMBER 23, 2021 • Associated Press
Designated for assignment Dickerson was designated for assignment by the Giants on Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Dickerson had an unremarkable 2021 season, hitting .233/.304/.420 (good for a 97 wRC+) with 13 homers in 312 plate appearances. It's possible he lands in a platoon role elsewhere, as he did produce an out-of-nowhere 151 wRC+ in 170 plate appearances in 2020, but the upside seems fairly low for a player with a modest track record heading into his age-32 season.

OCTOBER 16, 2021 • Associated Press
Still not starting Dickerson (foot) isn't starting Game 3 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Dickerson will be out of the lineup for a third straight contest, but he went 0-for-1 with a strikeout as a pinch hitter in Saturday's Game 2 win. He'll likely be available off the bench once again, but LaMonte Wade, Steven Duggar and Mike Yastrzemski will start in the outfield from left to right.
OCTOBER 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Remains on bench Dickerson (foot) isn't starting Game 2 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Dickerson didn't appear in Friday's Game 1 win, and he'll remain out of the lineup due to a foot injury. However, it seems likely that the 31-year-old will be available off the bench given his inclusion on the NLDS roster.
OCTOBER 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
On bench Game 1 Dickerson (foot) is out of the lineup for Game 1 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Friday, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Dickerson was last in the lineup Sept. 28 when he was hit by a pitch, but his inclusion on the NLDS roster indicates there's not much concern over the injury. He finished 2021 with a .233/.304/.420 slash line in 111 games, and the Giants will start Kris Bryant and LaMonte Wade in the corner outfield spots in Game 1.
OCTOBER 8, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting again Sunday Dickerson (foot) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Dickerson has been out of the lineup since being hit by a pitch in the left foot Tuesday, though his appearance as a pinch hitter Saturday indicates he's close to being fully healthy. Kris Bryant will move to left field while LaMonte Wade starts in right Sunday.
OCTOBER 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Remains sidelined Dickerson (foot) remains on the bench for Saturday's game against San Diego, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Dickerson hasn't played since getting hit in the foot by a pitch Tuesday against Arizona. LaMonte Wade starts in left field Saturday.
OCTOBER 2, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Still not starting Dickerson (foot) isn't starting Friday's game against the Padres, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Dickerson was hit by a pitch on his foot Tuesday and will be out of the starting nine for a third straight game. It's not clear whether he'll be available off the bench, but Darin Ruf will start in left field and bat second.
OCTOBER 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Remains out Thursday Dickerson (foot) remains out of the lineup Thursday against Arizona, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact Dickerson was out of Wednesday's lineup after being by a pitch in the foot Tuesday. There was no significant damage discovered, so it's unclear whether his absence Thursday is due to an injury or because left-hander Madison Bumgarner is on the mound. Austin Slater will take over in center field and hit atop the order.
