Rough outing Thursday Wood allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks over four innings in a no-decision Thursday against Arizona. He had five strikeouts.

Impact Six of the seven hits allowed by Wood were singles, but the Diamondbacks were still able to put 11 runners on base over the left-hander's four innings of work. Wood has scuffled over his last two starts, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) over 11.1 innings in a pair of no-decisions. For the season, Wood is 9-3 with a 4.03 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 102.2 innings. He's tentatively lined up to make his next start at home against the same Diamondbacks squad next week.

Impact Wood allowed multiple homers for the second time in 18 starts this season -- he's posted a strong 1.1 HR/9. Aledmys Diaz took him deep both times, but the southpaw was able to limit the damage beyond that. Wood has a 3.83 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 105:31 K:BB through 98.2 innings. He projects for an easier matchup versus Arizona next week.

Punches out eight Sunday Wood (9-3) earned the win over the Pirates on Sunday after allowing a run on five hits and two walks while striking out eight over 5.1 innings.

Impact Wood started off a little rocky after allowing the Pirates to get on the board first with back-to-back hits in the first inning. He shut them down the rest of the way, using his slider and sinker to strike out eight for the third time over his last five starts. After a rough past two seasons in which he was hindered by injuries, Wood has rediscovered his old form and has pitched to a respectable 3.65 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 102:30 K:BB over 93.2 innings. He's in line for a home start against the Astros his next time out.

He'll carry a 3.77 ERA into his next start, which is scheduled to come at home against Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Impact Wood had one of his better outings of the season, and the only run scored against him came in the first off an RBI double by Nolan Arenado. The 30-year-old lefty settled in afterward, throwing six shutout innings and 62-of-94 pitches for strikes while not allowing another baserunner to reach scoring position. Wednesday was his first quality start since June 14, which was a run of three starts. He's struck out at least six while allowing no more than two runs or four hits in four of his last five outings. Wood will head into the All-Star break with a 3.67 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 87:27 K:BB over 83.1 innings.
