Blows another lead Monday Garrett allowed a two-run homer and was charged with a blown save over just a third of an inning in Monday's 5-3 extra-inning win over the Dodgers.
Impact Garrett relieved Lucas Sims with two outs and a man on in the seventh, and he promptly left a hanging slider over the plate that Corey Seager crushed over the center-field fence to tie the game at 3-3. It's been a rough start to the year for the hard-throwing lefty, as he's given up 10 runs and owns an appalling 4:7 K:BB over just 6.1 innings. He may be starting to lose his grip on the closer role with Tejay Antone nearly unhittable in a setup role thus far.

Blows three-run lead Garrett allowed three earned runs on one hit and two walks while striking out one to blow the save Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
Impact Garrett entered the game in the ninth inning with a 3-0 lead. However, he blew his first save of the season after walking two of the first three batters he faced and then surrendering a three-run home run to Josh VanMeter. Garrett has now walked at least one batter in five of his six outings, which has led to disastrous results. Across 5.1 frames, he has allowed 10 earned runs, eight walks and three home runs. Garrett received a vote of confidence from manager David Bell after the game, though it wouldn't be surprising to see Lucas Sims and potentially even Sean Doolittle or Tejay Antone creep factor more heavily into the saves picture.

Impact Garrett came on in the 10th inning and navigated around a pair of walks to pick up his second save of the season. One of the walks was intentional, so the right-hander's control wasn't as off as a quick glance at the box score might suggest. The outing was certainly an improvement over his previous two appearances, during which Garrett yielded a combined five runs and five hits over two innings.

Impact This was a dreaded "get work" outing for Garrett, so perhaps we can cut some slack for the outing, but it'll be interesting to see what the Reds do the next time they have a save situation. When Garrett has struggled in the past, it's been with his fastball against right-handed hitters, so this bears watching.
