Called up to bigs The White Sox recalled Severino from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday. Impact With starting pitcher Lucas Giolito (abdomen) and outfielder AJ Pollock (hamstring) moving to the injured list, the White Sox have opted to replace them on the 28-man active roster with a righty and lefty reliever in Jimmy Lambert and Severino, respectively. Severino, who has yet to appear in the big leagues, narrowly missed out on a spot in Chicago's Opening Day bullpen. He didn't allow any home runs in the minors last season and racked up 53 strikeouts across 45.2 innings between Triple-A and Double-A Birmingham, but a 16.5 percent walk rate likely took him out of the mix for a promotion to the big leagues in 2021. Expect him to work in low-leverage spots for the White Sox initially.
