Tomás Nido - Sitting SaturdayNido isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against Arizona.
ImpactThe Cubs seem to have fallen into a pattern of alternating between Nido and Miguel Amaya behind the plate, and Saturday will mark Amaya's turn to start while he bats eighth.

Luke Little - Unlikely to return in 2024Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Little (lat) is likely out for the rest of the season, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.
ImpactLittle landed on the injured list last Saturday due to a left shoulder strain, though the results of his MRI on Friday confirmed the strain is in his left lat. It doesn't seem that he'll require surgery, but the Cubs will still keep the southpaw shut down for now. Should he miss the rest of the season, he'll finish with a 3.46 ERA and 1.27 WHIP alongside a 28:18 K:BB across 26 innings.

Hunter Bigge - Back in majorsThe Cubs recalled Bigge from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
ImpactBigge was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday, but he'll now head back to Chicago in order to replace the injured Hayden Wesneski (forearm) in the Cubs' bullpen. Bigge owns a minuscule 0.77 ERA through 11.2 innings with Iowa, and he allowed one earned run in 2.1 frames over three appearances during his previous stint in the majors.

Hayden Wesneski - Lands on injured listThe Cubs placed Wesneski on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right forearm strain, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
ImpactWesneski pitched 1.1 shutout innings out of the bullpen during Friday's loss to Arizona, though he appears to have come away from his latest appearance with an injury. He'll be held out of action until at least August 4, and the Cubs will recall Hunter Bigge from Triple-A Iowa to fill the opening in their bullpen.

Nico Hoerner - Tallies three hits to extend streakHoerner went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.
ImpactHoerner came into the All-Star break riding an 11-game hitting streak and he kept rolling in his team's return to action Friday. Over the past 12 games, the infielder is batting .380 with eight RBI and eight runs scored. After a relatively slow start to the season, Hoerner seems to be finding his groove, and he should be able to score plenty of runs as the Cubs' primary leadoff hitter if he keeps reaching base consistently.
