Trevor Williams - Making another startWilliams will start for the Cubs in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactWilliams will receive his second straight turn through the rotation coming out of the All-Star break while Jake Arrieta (hamstring) remains out of commission. Arrieta is set to throw a simulated game Monday, so Williams could be pushed into a long-relief role if the former is activated from the injured list by the time a fifth starter is next needed July 30 in Washington.

Rafael Ortega - Six-game starting streak endsOrtega is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactOrtega will sit for the first time since July 18, ending a streak of six straight starts during which he went 7-for-19 with a triple, a walk, an RBI and a stolen base. He appears to have worked his way into a timeshare in the outfield with Ian Happ, but both players will head to the bench Sunday with a lefty (Caleb Smith) on the hill for Arizona.

Ian Happ - Out again SundayHapp is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactHapp remains out of the lineup for the third straight time in the weekend series against Arizona. In fact, he's only started five times in the last 13 games. Happ is still getting some run off the bench as a pinch hitter, but that won't move the needle much in fantasy. The outfielder has struggled all year with a .176/.287/.316 slash line, so the extra time on the bench makes sense. Perhaps Happ can get going after the weekend off.

Jason Heyward - Getting Sunday offHeyward is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactHeyward started the first two games of the series, going 1-for-8, but will get a breather in the finale. The veteran has been struggling this year with a .204/.282/.339 slash line, though he's still been able to provide solid defense in right field, which is valuable to the Cubs but doesn't help out fantasy managers.
JULY 25, 2021ROTOWIRE
Jake Marisnick - Starting SundayMarisnick is starting in center field and batting sixth in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactJason Heyward and Ian Happ are both out of the lineup Sunday, so Marisnick gets center field, while Kris Bryant will cover right and Patrick Wisdom takes left. Marisnick is still in more of a fourth outfielder role with the Cubs, but a Bryant trade could open up more playing time for the former.
JULY 25, 2021ROTOWIRE
Trevor Megill - Optioned to Triple-AThe Cubs are optioning Megill to Triple-A Iowa to make room on the roster for David Bote (shoulder), who is returning from the injured list Sunday.
ImpactMegill has been shuttling between Triple-A and the majors recently, as he was sent to Iowa in late June, recalled Thursday and now getting sent back down a few days later. The righty has logged 4.2 innings for the Cubs this year, recording an 11.57 ERA. Megill could very well return to the big club at some point, though his fantasy value will be fairly limited in a low-leverage role.
JULY 25, 2021ROTOWIRE
David Bote - Returning to lineup SundayBote (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list and will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
ImpactBote has been out since late May with a dislocated left shoulder. The team announced in a corresponding move that Trevor Megill will be optioned to Triple-A Iowa to make room on the roster. Bote should return to his usual utility role moving forward, primarily playing at second and third. His fantasy value will be capped unless the Cubs trade some regulars and more consistent playing time becomes available.
