Austin Gomber - Early exit WednesdayGomber (5-11) took the loss Wednesday as the Rockies were downed 9-4 by the Diamondbacks, coughing up six runs (five earned) on six hits and a walk over two innings. He struck out...
ImpactThree of the hits off Gomber left the yard, including two by Corbin Carroll, as the southpaw stumbled through his shortest outing of the season. Gomber had been on a roll, working at least six innings in six straight trips to the mound with a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB over 39 innings, but that hot streak came to crashing halt in Coors Field. He's scheduled to make one more start this year, facing the Cardinals at home next week.

Corbin Carroll - Goes yard twice at CoorsCarroll went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-4 win over the Rockies.
ImpactThe 24-year-old took advantage of his final game of the year at Coors Field, launching a solo shot in the first inning and a two-run homer in the second, both off Austin Gomber. The long balls were Carroll's first of September, but he's mostly put his early-season struggles behind him -- over 43 games since the beginning of August, he's batting .282 with 13 home runs, nine steals, 31 RBI and 46 runs.
