Max Meyer - Extends throwing distanceThe Marlins announced Monday that Meyer (elbow) has increased his throwing distance off flat ground to 90 feet, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

ImpactIt's another marginal step forward for Meyer in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, as the right-hander had been limited to playing catch from 75 feet over the past two weeks. Meyer still appears to be at least a couple weeks away from completing his flat-ground throwing progression before he's cleared to start throwing off a mound.

Avisaíl García - Available off benchMarlins manager Skip Schumaker said Garcia (wrist) will be available off the bench for Monday's game against the Giants, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

ImpactThough he'll be out of the lineup for the series opener after hurting his right wrist when it was drilled by a pitch in Sunday's 5-0 loss to the Diamondbacks, Garcia looks like he'll avoid a stint on the injured list. Schumaker noted that Garcia was able to take batting practice in the cage Monday without issue, so the 31-year-old could be called upon to pinch hit, if necessary.

ImpactCueto will presumably throw all of his pitches during the side session, and if all goes well, he could be cleared to face hitters later this week. The veteran right-hander will likely need multiple minor-league rehab starts or simulated games to build up for starting duties, so he appears to be trending toward a May return from the 15-day injured list at this stage.
