Yohel Pozo - Cut from big-league campThe Rangers reassigned Pozo to minor-league camp Monday.
ImpactPozo posted a monstrous .962 OPS over 77 games at Triple-A Round Rock last season, but he wasn't nearly as successful in a smaller sample of action with the Rangers. Though his .284/.312/.378 in 77 plate appearances in Texas was only 10 percent worse than the MLB average, Pozo's lack of defensive utility likely played a factor in the Rangers non-tendering him over the winter. While Texas brought Pozo back on a minor-league deal, his lack of a 40-man roster spot may make it tougher for him to resurface with the big club in 2022.

Brandon Workman - Misses out on Opening Day rosterThe Rangers reassigned Workman to minor-league camp Monday.
ImpactThough he's only three years removed from saving 16 games and posting a 1.88 ERA in 71.2 innings with the Red Sox, Workman's career appears to be headed on a downward spiral. Now with his fourth organization since that career-best 2019 season, Workman was forced to settle for a minor-league deal over the winter and didn't distinguish himself in spring training to make a case for a spot in the Rangers' Opening Day bullpen. He'll likely begin the season in the bullpen at Triple-A Round Rock.

Nick Tropeano - Heads to minor-league campThe Rangers reassigned Tropeano to minor-league camp Monday.
ImpactTropeano joined Texas on a minor-league deal in January after making five appearances at the MLB level in 2021, as he posted a 2.25 ERA in eight innings between the Giants and Mets. Though the 31-year-old possesses previous starting experience at the MLB level, the Rangers may envision him filling a relief role at Triple-A Round Rock to begin the upcoming season.

Kohei Arihara - Not in mix for Opening Day rosterThe Rangers reassigned Arihara to minor-league camp Monday.
ImpactAlong with Brandon Workman and Nick Tropeano, Arihara was one of three Rangers pitchers with prior MLB experience who was reassigned Monday. After agreeing to a two-year, $6.2 million deal with Texas last offseason, Arihara made 10 starts for the big club and submitted a 6.64 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across 40.2 innings before being removed from the 40-man roster in September.

Nick Ahmed - MRI inconclusiveAhmed's MRI on his right shoulder was inconclusive Monday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe shortstop battled shoulder soreness late last season, and the issue appears to have popped up again this spring. He indicated that the tests didn't reveal any significant tear or soft tissue issue, so he'll attempt to rehab the issue for now without surgery. His return timeline is unclear given that the nature of the injury itself remains murky. Geraldo Perdomo could fill in at shortstop until Ahmed returns.
