Massive power display Monday Cabrera went 4-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI in Monday's 16-4 rout of the Mets.
Impact Both long balls came off southpaws -- Steven Matz in the second inning, and Chasen Shreve in the seventh. Cabrera has picked up right where he left off after being acquired by the Nats at the end of 2019, hitting .357 (15-for-42) through 12 games with three homers and 11 RBI.

Impact The lefty-hitting Thames will head to the bench for the second time this season with a southpaw (Hyun-Jin Ryu) on the mound for the opposition. Asdrubal Cabrera will cover first base in place of Thames, while Josh Harrison takes over as designated hitter for Howie Kendrick (back).

Impact The 34-year-old took Ben Heller deep in the seventh inning for his first homer of 2020. Carter Kieboom is limited to DH duties at the moment due to a slight groin issue, opening up the hot corner for Cabrera. He'll have some intriguing short-term value in shallower fantasy leagues and daily formats after posting a .969 OPS in 38 games for the Nats last season.

Playing despite groin issue Kieboom is dealing with a groin injury but will serve as the designated hitter Saturday against the Yankees, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact The injury evidently only hurts when he moves laterally, so he'll be able to hit and run the bases. Saturday's game will be his season debut, as he didn't appear in Thursday's season opener. Exactly how often he'll be in the lineup this year remains to be seen, as he's expected to split time at the hot corner with Asdrubal Cabrera.

Shines in Yankees debut Cole earned the win in Thursday's rain-shortened contest against Washington, pitching five innings and allowing one run on one hit and one walk while striking out five.
Impact Cole lived up to his massive contract in his first start with New York, allowing only a first-inning home run to Adam Eaton and a fifth-inning walk to Asdrubal Cabrera while throwing 46 of 75 pitches for strikes. The right-hander would have likely pitched at least another inning if not for a torrid rainstorm that resulted in the contest being called after five innings. Cole will look to build on his impressive first start of the season when he faces the Phillies on the road Tuesday.
