Nick Pivetta - Avoids arbiterPivetta and the Red Sox avoided arbitration Tuesday, agreeing to a one-year, $2.65 million deal, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
ImpactPivetta had something of a breakout in his first full season with Boston last year, though while he did produce a career-best ERA, his 4.53 mark was far from exceptional. That figure did come with a solidly above-average 26.5 percent strikeout rate, which gives him more fantasy value that other pitchers who prevent runs at a similarly mediocre rate.

Tyler Matzek - Set to earn $1.4M in 2022Matzek and Atlanta agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $1.4 million deal to avoid arbitration.
ImpactA first-round pick of the Rockies in 2009, Matzek's career appeared to be on life support over the latter half of the last decade while he dealt with significant command woes in the minors. Since catching on with Atlanta late in 2019, however, Matzek has staged an impressive comeback while emerging as a key reliever for the big club. He'll be rewarded with a $1.4 million deal for 2022 after he finished last season with 24 holds to go with a 2.57 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 77:37 K:BB across 63 innings.

A.J. Minter - Strikes deal with AtlantaMinter and Atlanta agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $2.2 million contract to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
ImpactMinter was one of three arbitration-eligible relievers that came to terms with the reigning World Series champions Tuesday, with Sean Newcomb ($900,000) and Tyler Matzek ($1.4 million) also getting contracts for 2022. Once viewed as a potential closer of the future for Atlanta, Minter has settled into more of a middle-relief or setup role for the club across the past three seasons. He accrued a career-high 23 holds in 2021 while finishing with a 3.78 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 57:20 K:BB in 52.1 innings.

Sean Newcomb - Tendered contract for 2022Newcomb and Atlanta agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $900,000 contract to avoid arbitration.
ImpactNewcomb will be competing for a spot in the reigning champions' bullpen this spring after turning in a 4.73 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 43:27 K:BB across 32.1 innings in 2021. The lefty doesn't have any minor-league options remaining, which should work in his favor in his bid for Atlanta's Opening Day roster.

Kyle Tyler - Catches on with BoSoxThe Red Sox claimed Tyler off waivers from the Angels on Tuesday and optioned him to Triple-A Worcester, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
ImpactIn a corresponding move, Boston designated infielder Hudson Potts for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster for Tyler. The 25-year-old righty reached the big leagues for the first time in 2021, making all five of his appearances for the Angels out of the bullpen while submitting a 2.92 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 12.1 innings. He's typically served as a starter for most of his minor-league career, but it's unclear in what capacity Boston plans to deploy Tyler as he heads to its Triple-A affiliate.
