Calf injury downplayedAtlanta manager Brian Snitker said he expects Swanson (calf) to return to the lineup for Tuesday's Grapefruit League finale against the Red Sox, David O'Brien of The Athletic repot...
ImpactSwanson was initially scheduled to play in the first half of a two-game set with Boston on Monday, but he was scratched ahead of the contest due to a sore right calf. According to Snitker, Swanson first experienced the injury Sunday and had some lingering tightness Monday following his pregame warmup, so Atlanta decided to play things safe with the shortstop and held him out. Snitker wasn't concerned about the injury, noting that Swanson likely would have played Monday if it had been a regular-season game.

Back in 2015, Tyler Glasnow was 'terrified’ of A.J. BurnettPerception did not become reality, but it’s a funny story how Tyler Glasnow was once terrified of A.J. Burnett.

Suffers setbackChoi suffered a setback in his recovery from right knee inflammation/soreness and will be checked out by a doctor Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ImpactThe Rays were previously optimistic that there were no structural issues with Choi's knee, though he's already received a pair of cortisone injections and was expected to open the year on the injured list. That seems all but confirmed now, though when exactly he's expected to return won't become clear until after his doctor visit. The Rays have a deep group of alternatives at the corner infield positions, with Yandy Diaz, Yoshi Tsutsugo and Mike Brosseau all potentially in line to benefit from Choi's absence.

Appears set as starting CFPache is expected to begin the season as Atlanta's starting center fielder, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe team's No. 3 fantasy prospect didn't show much at the plate this spring, slashing .162/.238/.243 with a 4:11 BB:K in 42 plate appearances, but Ender Inciarte wasn't much better and Pache's outstanding defensive skills made the difference. The 22-year-old has the athletic tools to be a power/speed asset down the road, but he'll be a risky option on fantasy rosters as a rookie.

Ticketed for middle reliefJackson appears set to begin the season in the Atlanta bullpen, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe right-hander has 18 saves and nine holds in 2019, but he was out of the high-leverage mix last year and likely won't regain a prominent spot in 2021. Jackson posted a solid 3.52 ERA and 7:3 K:BB over 7.2 innings this spring and should work primarily in middle relief.

Set for bullpen roleDayton appears set to make Atlanta's Opening Day roster, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
ImpactThe team's decision to carry 10 relievers helped Dayton's case, as did the fact that he's out of minor-league options. Still, he'll be shut out of high-leverage work in a 'pen that already features Will Smith, A.J. Minter and Tyler Matzek from the port side, and Dayton's efforts in Grapefruit League play (6.43 ERA, 7:4 K:BB and three homers allowed in seven innings) were far from impressive. The 33-year-old lefty could be the reliever cut loose when the team elects to lengthen its bench later in the year.

Doesn't make Opening Day rosterCamargo was optioned to Atlanta's alternate training site Saturday, Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports.
ImpactIt's something of a surprise Camargo didn't make the Opening Day roster, but he was outplayed this spring by Ehire Adrianza and the team elected to go with an extra arm in the bullpen to open the season rather than a five-man bench. Camargo, who has seen action at all four infield spots and the outfield corners over the last two years, could be the first player called back up once Atlanta has a greater need for position depth.
