Lands with Seattle The Mariners claimed Kitchen off waivers from the Marlins on Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Tacoma.

Impact Edward Cabrera was slated to start Friday, but he was scratched with a reason yet to be provided. Kitchen hasn't pitched more than two innings across his three major-league outings this season, and that will likely be his limit in his spot start. In his last appearance Tuesday against the Nationals, he gave up one hit across 1.1 scoreless innings.

Back in big leagues The Marlins recalled Kitchen from Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Impact The 27-year-old was sent to Jacksonville in early August and will rejoin the major-league bullpen for the final stretch of the month. Kitchen has made just one appearance in the big leagues and has a 2.96 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB over 48.2 innings across three minor-league levels this season.
