Set to start for Twins on Sunday Ober will be called up to start Sunday's game against the Royals, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Impact Ober made a spot start for the Twins on May 18, allowing four runs on five hits across four innings. He was optioned back to Triple-A St. Paul shortly after, but is now set for another opportunity with the big club. It's not yet known how Minnesota will make room on the 26-man roster for the right-hander.

Optioned to Triple-A Ober was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

Impact Ober was called up for a spot start Tuesday against the White Sox and wasn't particularly impressive, allowing four runs in four innings. Randy Dobnak was called up in a corresponding move and will start Friday in Cleveland.

Across two Triple-A starts this season, the 25-year-old posted a 1.29 ERA.

Spot start awaits The Twins plan to call up Ober from Triple-A St. Paul to start Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Steve Stone of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Impact Ober will be summoned from the minors on short notice to make his MLB debut after the pitcher initially scheduled to start Tuesday, Michael Pineda, was scratched for non-injury-related reasons. The 25-year-old Ober hasn't worked more than four innings in any of his two starts with St. Paul this season, so the Twins likely won't be counting on the right-hander to work deep into Tuesday's contest.

Joins minor-league camp The Twins optioned Ober to minor-league camp Sunday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Impact Along with Ober, fellow pitchers Dakota Chalmers, Jhoan Duran and Jordan Balazovic were also optioned as Minnesota made its first cuts of spring training. Ober didn't play in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor-league season, but he dazzled between three minor-league stops in 2019, posting a 0.69 ERA and 0.81 WHIP while striking out 100 over 78.2 innings. Expect him to slot into the rotation at Triple-A St. Paul to begin 2021.
