Adam Frazier - Nabs steal, scores twice Frazier went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Tigers.
Impact With prospect Joey Ortiz called up and starting at second base, Frazier moved to right field for Thursday's game. That's an arrangement that could happen more, though a lot depends on how Ortiz adjusts to the major-league level. Frazier hasn't done much with the bat lately -- he hasn't record a multi-hit effort since April 2. He's slashing just .213/.298/.333 with two home runs, nine RBI, four steals and 15 runs scored through 25 contests.

Jorge Mateo - Notches two steals Mateo went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Tigers.
Impact Mateo is one of seven players in the majors with 10 steals already on the year. He's hit safely in his last four games, going 5-for-14 with five runs scored in that span. For the season, the shortstop is slashing .361/.406/.639 with four home runs, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored and five doubles through 71 plate appearances. There's a chance newly-promoted prospect Joey Ortiz snags some playing time at shortstop, but it's tough to see Mateo's bat coming out of the lineup much when he's hitting well.

Bryan Baker - Records second win Baker (2-0) walked two and struck out two over 1.2 scoreless and hitless innings to earn the win Thursday over the Tigers.
Impact Baker got the last two outs of the sixth inning and also pitched the seventh after the Orioles rallied ahead. Since a three-run meltdown on Opening Day, Baker hasn't been charged with a run in his last 13 innings while adding a 17:5 K:BB in that span. For the season, the righty reliever has a strong 1.98 ERA and 0.73 WHIP with five holds through 14 appearances.

Impact Though Santander hit a two-run home run off Casen Shreve in the seventh, he was struck out in each of his other three at-bats. In his last 21 games, Santander has recorded multiple hits just once while Thursday's homer was just his second on the year. After swatting 33 long shots last season and slashing .240/.318/.455, Santandar is off to a slow start to 2023 despite Baltimore's 17-8 record.

Impact Hays is absent from the Orioles' starting lineup for a second straight game Thursday in Detroit after suffering a bruised right hand Tuesday when he got hit by a pitch. He's available to run and maybe even serve as a late-inning defensive replacement, but Hays probably won't be back in full until the latter part of the four-game series versus the Tigers.
