Out due to COVID protocolsBraves manager Brian Snitker said that Fried won't make his scheduled start in Friday's Grapefruit League game with the Twins due to COVID-19-related concerns, David O'Brien of The...
ImpactAccording to Snitker, Fried didn't test positive for COVID-19, but the Braves fear he had "potential exposure" to an infected person. Fried is expected to remain away from camp for at least a couple of days, but if he continues to test negative while in quarantine, he could return to the team facility at some point next week. Assuming that ends up being the case, Fried's availability for the start of the regular season shouldn't be in any jeopardy.

Dealing with hip sorenessGalvis was scratched from the lineup for Thursday's spring game against the Red Sox due to hip soreness, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
ImpactThe Orioles didn't initially provide a reason for Galvis' removal from Thursday's lineup, but manager Brandon Hyde said that it was a precautionary measure due to a sore hip. Galvis participated in workouts ahead of the game, but the team decided that he wasn't able to play against Boston. Hyde didn't sound too concerned about his status going forward, but it's not yet clear whether Galvis will be forced to miss additional time.

Could play next weekMartin (hand) has been taking batting practice and could get into game action next week, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
ImpactMartin is working his way back from January hamate bone surgery. That followed July wrist surgery, a procedure which cost him the entirety of the 2020 season. Even if he's up to speed by Opening Day, he may not make the active roster, as he didn't look major-league ready as a Rule 5 pick in 2019, hitting just .208/.260/.322.
