ImpactThe veteran righty has been on the shelf since early June with elbow soreness, and he's progressed to the final stage of his recovery. Smith should require a couple appearances in the minors and could rejoin the Astros over the weekend or early next week.

ImpactThe 25-year-old spent the first couple months of the season on the restricted list while serving a PED suspension, and he's now lost his 40-man roster spot. Martes has made seven appearances at Triple-A Sugar Land and surrendered 10 runs on eight hits with 13 walks and nine strikeouts over 8.1 innings.

José Urquidy - Lands on ILUrquidy was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with right shoulder discomfort, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
ImpactUrquidy was forced to leave his Tuesday start against Baltimore in the second inning after his velocity dropped as a result of the shoulder issue. The right-hander underwent an MRI earlier Wednesday, and the club should have a better understanding of the full severity of the injury once those results come in. The move to the IL will keep Urquidy on the shelf until at least July 10, but he may end up needing longer to recover.

ImpactHartman has been working as a starter at Triple-A Sugar Land this season and has a 3.98 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 49:13 K:BB across 40.2 innings. The left-hander should fill a bullpen role for the Astros since the team still has five rotation options despite Jose Urquidy (shoulder) landing on the injured list.
