Chris Ellis - Set for spring debut FridayEllis (shoulder) is scheduled to pitch in relief Friday in the Orioles' Grapefruit League game against the Rays, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
ImpactHe'll likely work no more than an inning or two behind starter Jordan Lyles in what will be Ellis' first appearance of the spring. Ellis got off to a delayed start to camp after not signing with the Orioles on a minor-league deal until last week, but he at least seems to be healthy again after a bout with right shoulder inflammation kept him on the shelf at the end of the 2021 campaign. Ellis is competing for a spot the Orioles' Opening Day rotation, which looks unsettled at the moment beyond Lyles and ace John Means.

Anthony Bemboom - Dealing with illnessBemboom was scratched from Thursday's Grapefruit Lineup against the Red Sox due to an illness, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ImpactThe Orioles didn't initially provide a reason for Bemboom's removal from the lineup, but it's unlikely that his illness will lead to a significant absence. Assuming the illness of the non-COVID variety, the catcher should be considered day-to-day.

DJ Stewart - Day-to-day with bruised handStewart is considered day-to-day after he was diagnosed with a bruised left hand Thursday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ImpactStewart underwent an X-ray after he was hit by a pitch on his left hand in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury. The 28-year-old shouldn't miss significant time and will compete for a roster spot once he returns to full health.
