Set for rehab games Perkins (oblique) was cleared to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Impact Perkins has spent the last couple of weeks working out at the Brewers' spring training complex in Arizona and is now ready for a return to live games. The 27-year-old outfielder has been on the shelf since Aug. 11 because of a left oblique strain.

Rehabbing in Arizona Perkins (oblique) will report to the Brewers' spring training complex in Arizona this week to continue workouts, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Impact The Brewers haven't clarified where exactly Perkins stands in his recovery from the left oblique strain that has sidelined him since Aug. 11, but the fact that he's working out in Arizona and isn't being shut down from baseball activities can be taken as a positive sign. Perkins will eventually need to complete a minor-league rehab assignment before returning from the 10-day injured list, likely at some point in September. Once activated, Perkins is expected to be limited to a depth role in the Milwaukee outfield.

Impact Getting the start in left field and batting eighth against southpaw Cristopher Sanchez, Perkins produced his first multi-hit performance since July 1 while stealing his fourth bag of the season. The 26-year-old is batting just .167 (5-for-30) on the month, but seven walks have given him a respectable .324 OBP.
