Fans nine in win Snell recorded 4.2 innings of work Wednesday, allowing two runs, two hits and four walks while striking out nine in a win over the Dodgers in Game 2 of the World Series.
Impact Snell looked sharp Wednesday, fanning nine in his start. His lone mistake came on a two-run homer to Chris Taylor in the fifth inning. The 27-year-old threw 49 of his 88 pitches for strikes while inducing 13 swinging strikes. The Rays have been careful with the left-hander, who has dealt with minor injuries throughout his career. Snell will see action again if the series continues to get extended.

Impact Snell will be on normal four day's rest after allowing one run across five innings while earning the win in Game 1 on Sunday. The southpaw has fanned 15 and posted a 2.87 ERA across 15.2 innings during three starts this postseason.

Impact After giving up three homers to the Yankees in a loss in Game 1 of the AL Division Series, Snell rebounded in a major way, with the lone blemish being a long ball off the bat of Jose Altuve in the first inning. The 2018 AL Cy Young winner was not fully stretched out when the 2020 season began and he still has not completed six full innings in a start this season. That said, Snell ranked 15th during the regular season in strikeout rate (min. 50 IP) and the team clearly still has a lot of faith in him, even if the lefty has yet to recapture that same magic from a few years ago. He should start Friday if there is a Game 6.

Serves up three homers in loss Snell took the loss to the Yankees on Monday in Game 1 of the ALDS. He allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings.
Impact Clint Frazier, Kyle Higashioka and Aaron Judge all took the lefty yard, the latter two in the fifth inning. As John Romano of the Tampa Bay Times notes, Snell was constantly working from behind and went to three-ball counts to seven different hitters. He could not locate his fastball and as a result had to rely more on his changeup and curveball. Even with his struggles Monday, it still seems likely Snell would start Game 5 on short rest if the Rays are able to force a Game 5.
