Whit Merrifield - Runs wild in lossMerrifield went 1-for-3 with a walk and three stolen bases in Saturday's 7-1 loss to the Red Sox.
ImpactMLB's steals leader did his best to get himself in scoring position, but the rest of the Royals' batting order couldn't cash him in. Merrifield hadn't swiped a bag since June 4 but he's up to 20 stolen bases on the year in 21 attempts, in addition to his .272 batting average, five homers, 38 RBI and 41 runs through 69 contests.

Brad Keller - Bounced by BostonKeller (6-7) took the loss Saturday, coughing up five runs on five hits and three walks over five innings as the Royals fell 7-1 to the Red Sox. He struck out four.
ImpactThe right-hander held Boston's bats mostly in check until the fifth inning, when a two-run homer by J.D. Martinez capped a four-run rally that put the game out of reach for Kansas City. Keller lasted at least five innings for the ninth straight start, but he's been far from effective lately, getting tagged for at least five runs in each of his last three trips to the mound. He'll take a 6.34 ERA and 64:34 K:BB through 71 innings into his next outing.

Bobby Dalbec - Belts ninth homerDalbec went 3-for-3 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Royals.
ImpactThe 25-year-old slugger capped his big day by taking Jackson Kowar deep in the ninth inning for a two-run shot. Dalbec has nine homers on the year, but four of them have come in his last 12 games.

J.D. Martinez - Mashes 14th homerMartinez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Royals.
ImpactHis fifth-inning blast off Brad Keller capped a four-run rally by the Red Sox that put them in the lead for good. Martinez extended his hitting streak to nine games with the long ball, and on the season he's batting .307 with 14 homers and 44 RBI through 65 contests.

Martín Pérez - Nabs fifth winPerez (5-4) picked up the win in Saturday's 7-1 victory over the Royals, allowing one run on three hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.
ImpactThe lefty wasn't exactly efficient, tossing 43 of 78 pitches for strikes before exiting, but the Red Sox offense gave Perez more than enough support to end his brief two-game losing streak. He'll take a 4.32 ERA and 57:24 K:BB through 66.2 innings into his next outing.
