ImpactValdez has spent a significant amount of time in Boston this season, but he'll return to the minors to make room for Hansel Robles (back). Valdez has a poor 5.84 ERA across 12.1 innings in the majors, though his 0.97 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB indicate that he's deserved better results.

Hansel Robles - Back in actionRobles (back) was activated from the injured list Thursday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
ImpactRobles was originally scheduled to make two rehab appearances with Triple-A Worcester but the first game was rained out. Instead, he flew west to join the team and is being activated after a minimum stay on the injured list. Robles could factor into the closer picture, as he had picked up two saves while maintaining a 2.65 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and an 11:6 K:BB across 17 frames prior to being sidelined.

Jhonathan Diaz - Likely to start FridayDiaz was scratched from his start Thursday with Triple-A Salt Lake and is likely to be recalled to start Friday against the Mets, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ImpactThe Angels have confirmed that they will recall a pitcher from the minors to start Friday. A spot in the rotation opened after Noah Syndergaard was pushed back in the rotation, so Diaz would likely only be making a spot start.
