Reese McGuire - Diagnosed with oblique strainMcGuire was removed from Wednesday's game against the Twins due to a right oblique strain, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

ImpactStill no word on the severity of McGuire's injury, but a stint on the injured list is likely. With McGuire presumably set to miss multiple weeks, the Red Sox could select Caleb Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester to temporarily serve as Connor Wong's backup.

ImpactMcGuire appeared to suffer a hand injury during a swing in the sixth inning and was immediately removed from the game, looking to be in a lot of pain. The Red Sox should provide an update on his status shortly, but early signs are not reassuring. Connor Wong entered the game to replace McGuire.
