ImpactArroyo and Danny Santana (groin) appear to be in roughly the same spot in their rehab programs for lower-body injuries, which they sustained within a few days of one another shortly after the All-Star break. Until Arroyo heads out on a minor-league rehab assignment, his return to the big-league roster shouldn't be considered imminent. Once reinstated from the IL, Arroyo could factor into the mix for regular playing time at first base versus right-handed pitching.

ImpactSantana is starting to make progress in his recovery from the left groin issue that sent him to the injured list July 22, but the Red Sox likely won't have a clear target date for him to rejoin the active roster until he's cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment. Whenever he's activated, Santana may be limited to a utility role with Boston that only affords him a couple of starts per week.

Matt Andriese - Kicks off rehab assignmentAndriese (hamstring) tossed a scoreless sixth inning Sunday in his first rehab appearance for Triple-A Worcester, scattering two hits while striking out one.
ImpactAndriese is expected to remain with Worcester and make at least one or two more rehab appearances before being activated from the 10-day injured list. Before being shut down with the hamstring issue in early July, Andriese compiled a 6.03 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 37.1 innings out of the Boston bullpen this season.
