Blue Jays activate Springer off injured list to face Orioles

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer has been activated from the injured list and will bat first Monday night as the designated hitter against the Baltimore Orioles

Impact Zimmer will now either report to Triple-A Buffalo, get claimed by another team or be released outright. The outfielder has struggled to a .105/.209/.237 slashline this year over 87 at-bats in 77 games with Toronto and will likely receive little interest from other teams.

Impact With George Springer resting in the Blue Jays' final game before the All-Star break, Zimmer will replace him in the outfield for what will be his first start since July 7 and his fifth overall since the beginning of June. Impact Zimmer had seemingly fallen out of favor in Cleveland this spring, as Steven Kwan drew the start over him in right field on Opening Day against Kansas City. With Josh Naylor (leg) also nearing a return, Zimmer's potential playing time may have only further dwindled with the Guardians.
