Fans 10 in return Woodruff (6-3) earned the win Tuesday in Tampa Bay, striking out 10 in five innings while allowing a run on two hits.
Impact Woodruff (hand) was making his first start since going on the injured list on May 30 and was masterful in his return. The righty struck out seven of the first nine batters he faced and retired the Rays in order over the first three innings. Both hits he allowed came in the fourth inning, leading to Tampa Bay's lone run against him. After some struggles to begin the season, Woodruff appeared to have found his way in his last three starts before going on the IL, and on Tuesday he picked up where he left off. He has allowed five runs over his last 20 innings while posting a 26:3 K:BB.

Impact Woodruff was initially placed on the IL on May 30 with a high-ankle sprain, and though he quickly moved past that injury, his return date was pushed back when he was diagnosed June 10 with Raynaud's syndrome, a condition that caused numbness in three of the fingers on his pitching hand. The right-hander no longer seems to be exhibiting symptoms of the condition, as he was sharp during his second rehab start with High-A Wisconsin five days ago. He covered five innings in that outing and shouldn't have any major restrictions with his workload as he slots back into the Milwaukee rotation this week.

Making second rehab start this week Woodruff (hand) said he expects to make his second rehab start with High-A Wisconsin on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact After striking out seven in 2.2 innings (51 pitches) in his first rehab outing for Triple-A Nashville over the weekend, Woodruff might have been a candidate to return from the 15-day injured list this week to start for Milwaukee while on a restricted pitch count, but the organization will instead let him get fully stretched out in the minors.
