Impact Phillips had played the outfield since entering the professional ranks in 2012, but he'll make the conversion to pitching as he joins the Yankees organization. The 30-year-old made his pitching debut Monday in the National Baseball Congress World Series and was throwing in the mid- to high-90s, which immediately earned him an opportunity in affiliated ball. He'll report to the Yankees' spring training complex in Florida initially.
