Claimed by Baltimore The Orioles claimed Kriske off waivers and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports.
Impact The 30-year-old was designated for assignment by the Reds on Thursday, and the Orioles claimed him to bolster their organization pitching depth. Kriske has spent the full season at Triple-A to this point and has a 3.06 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 73:32 K:BB over 50 innings.

Impact The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Dominic Smith. The control has been a problem, but Kriske's swing-and-miss ability could mean some interest on waivers.

Impact Kriske is expected to continue his career in Japan. The 29-year-old got into four games with the Royals this season, posting a 4.05 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 6:4 K:BB over 6.2 innings. He also carried a 5.52 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 49:16 K:BB through 29.1 innings with Triple-A Omaha. Kriske previously played in Nippon Professional Baseball during the 2022 campaign with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars.

Impact Kriske split the 2021 campaign between the Yankees and Orioles, and he had a 14.29 ERA, 2.03 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB over 11.1 innings. He'll now head to Japan to continue his career with MLB players currently locked out.
