He didn't factor into the decision and will now head to the minors after right-hander Chris Martin (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Impact Wilson was recalled Tuesday to make a spot start in place of Drew Smyly and had one of the better outings of his young career. The 23-year-old had his first quality start of 2021 and had a season-high five strikeouts which were largely contributed by the fact that he struck out the side in the first inning. His only major mistake of the evening was allowing a two-run homer to Vladimir Guerrero in the sixth to even the game. It's unclear what manager Brian Snitker plans to do with him next but it wouldn't be surprising if he was sent back to Triple-A Gwinnett unless Snitker opts to go with a six-man rotation for some reason.

Impact Wilson will likely be up with Atlanta for just one start, as skipper Brian Snitker wanted to skip Drew Smyly's turn in the rotation for a matchup with the Blue Jays after Toronto pummeled the lefty for six runs (five earned) in four innings back on April 30. Relying on Wilson to turn in dramatically better results than Smyly against Toronto may be wishful thinking; the 24-year-old righty has surrendered four home runs and posted an underwhelming 6:5 K:BB in 12 innings at the big-league level in 2021.
