Gets starting nod Monday Quantrill is slated to start for Cleveland in Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader with the White Sox, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Impact Due to the doubleheader, Cleveland will temporarily shift to a six-man rotation, which paves the way for Quantrill to pick up his first start of 2021. Over his 17 appearances out of the bullpen, Quantrill has logged a 2.03 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 20:11 K:BB in 26.2 innings. After covering a season-high three innings out of the bullpen in his most recent outing May 26, Quantrill should be stretched out enough to give Cleveland four or five innings Monday. He'll likely shift back to a relief role following the start.

Impact The right-hander worked the seventh inning Monday, and he allowed an RBI double to Jared Walsh after allowing consecutive singles to Jose Rojas and Anthony Rendon. Quantrill hadn't allowed a run in 10.2 innings prior to his poor inning Monday. Overall, he's posted a 2.18 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 11:10 K:BB. Impact After starter Logan Allen lasted just two innings, Quantrill was one of four relievers to pick up the slack. The two runs were the first against him this season. Quantrill has a 2.57 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and four strikeouts across seven innings. Expect the right-hander to continue in a long-relief role with the potential to draw a spot start if necessary.

Impact The writing was on the wall when the 26-year-old threw one frame in relief Friday after Logan Allen started and covered five innings, and Cleveland has now confirmed its rotation plans to begin 2021. Quantrill primarily operated out of the bullpen last season and pitched well with a 2.25 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 31:8 K:BB over 32 innings between Cleveland and San Diego. The right-hander could be called upon to start later in the season, but for now he'll work as a reliever.

The two contestants' respective spring numbers seemingly made this a rather easy choice, as Allen owns a 18:3 K:BB in 14 innings, allowing just one run, while Quantrill has struggled to a 10:9 K:BB while allowing 12 runs in 12 frames.
