Blows save Sunday Doval allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one over one-third of an inning, taking a blown save in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Twins.

Impact Doval's poor performance didn't stop the Giants from winning, but it made things a bit hairy in the ninth inning. The closer had gone five scoreless innings since his last blown save June 28, though he continues to put too many batters on base. For the season, Doval has a 4.38 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 49:24 K:BB over 37 innings while going 17-for-21 in save chances. If manager Bob Melvin changes his approach to the closer job, Doval could lose some of his save share to Ryan Walker or Tyler Rogers.

Impact The 26-year-old right-hander was in peak form, whiffing Adam Duvall with a 100.6 mph cutter to end the game. Doval blew his last save chance Friday though, and consistency has been an issue for him all year -- through 33.2 innings, he's posted a 4.28 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 44:22 K:BB, a significant step backwards from his ratios the prior two seasons.

Impact Doval's had some unsteady moments in September, allowing eight runs (three earned) over 10.1 innings, but he's also picked up four saves this month. Saturday's effort earned him his 39th save of the season, guaranteeing Doval a top-three finish in saves across the majors this year. He's also taken eight blown saves while posting a 2.93 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 87:26 K:BB through 67.2 innings.
