Impact Rodon landed on the injured list with left shoulder fatigue Wednesday, but he was able to resume throwing several days later. The southpaw underwent an MRI on Sunday that came back clean, and he isn't expected to require a lengthy absence. The White Sox are hopeful that Rodon will be able to return to the rotation during the team's upcoming series against Toronto, which begins Aug. 23.

Lengthy absence not expected Manager Tony La Russa said Sunday that Rodon's medical examination came back clean and confirmed shoulder soreness, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Impact Rodon is still expected to miss more than the 10-day minimum after landing on the injured list Wednesday, but according to James Fegan of The Athletic, La Russa indicated indicated the lefty could return during the upcoming four-game series in Toronto, which begins Aug. 23. Reynaldo Lopez is scheduled to start Tuesday and figures to remain in the rotation until Rodon is cleared to return.

Impact Rodon had been scheduled to start Thursday's "Field of Dreams" game against the Yankees in Iowa before he was moved to the IL on Wednesday after experiencing left shoulder fatigue/soreness coming out of his most recent throwing session. The southpaw will return to Chicago to undergo further evaluation, and the White Sox expect to have a better idea about the extent of his injury within the next couple of days. La Russa was careful to note that while he isn't counting on Rodon next week, he's not overly concerned about the All-Star's injury either, so fantasy managers are advised to hold Rodon until more news about his health becomes available.

IL bound with shoulder fatigue The White Sox placed Rodon on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to left shoulder fatigue, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Impact Rodon had been scheduled to start Thursday's game versus the Yankees in Iowa, but the White Sox will be forced to alter their pitching schedule after the All-Star lefty apparently didn't feel quite right coming out of his between-starts bullpen session. Since his IL move is retroactive to Aug. 8, Rodon is eligible to return Aug.18 and may need to miss only one turn through the rotation. With a 9-5 record, 2.38 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 160 strikeouts in 109.2 innings this season, Rodon has been a godsend for those that took a late-round flier on him or scooped him up off the waiver wire back in April.

Bounces back on extended rest Rodon (9-5) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out 11 over five innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Saturday.

Impact Rodon entered on a two-game losing skid and failed to pitch more than four innings in each loss. He was also suffering from reduced fastball velocity, so the White Sox gave him extended rest for this start. Pitching on eight days' rest, Rodon struck out the side in the first inning, using a fastball that reached 98.5 mph. It was a stark difference from the previous two starts, when the left-hander allowed runs in the first and second innings. Rodon's next turn in the rotation is due Thursday at home against the Yankees.

Loses second straight Rodon (8-5) allowed four runs on eight hits and struck out four over four innings, taking the loss against Kansas City on Wednesday.

Impact Rodon suffered his second consecutive loss and experienced a drop in velocity in the early innings for a second straight start. His fastball sat at 92-93 mph the first couple of innings before picking up to 97-98 in the final two. "Started slow, similar to Milwaukee," Rodon told Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. "I don't really like to make excuses. But, it's just part of the game. Just got to make some adjustments, feel better this next start and get it going, get going faster." Other warning signs are a season-low four strikeouts and the 104.2 innings Rodon has thrown is his most since 2018. The left-hander threw a combined 42.1 innings in 2019-20. With a day off coming next Monday, Rodon will get an extra day of rest leading up to his next start, which is expected to be Wednesday at home against the Royals.
