Fails to record an out in loss Rodon (3-8) took the loss Friday, failing to record an out while allowing eight runs on six hits and two walks.
Impact Rodon had put together consecutive quality starts in his previous two outings but failed to record an out in allowing all eight batters to reach base prior to his removal. He left with the bases loaded and having already allowed five runs, but by the time the inning was over, all eight runners had crossed the plate in what marks the worst outing of his career. It was a rough first season in New York for Rodon, who saw his ERA rise more than a point from 5.74 to 6.85 with this outing.

Falls to Arizona Rodon (3-7) took the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on five hits and a walk over 6.1 innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out four.
Impact The Diamondbacks got to Rodon twice in the opening inning, putting the Yankees in an early 2-0 hole. The left-hander would then deliver five shutout innings before Arizona scored three more runs in the seventh. Rodon's been inconsistent of late, pitching to a 6.65 ERA over his last four starts (21.2 innings). Overall, it's been a tough first season with the Yankees for Rodon -- he'll carry a 5.74 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP and 64 strikeouts into his final start of the year, currently scheduled for late next week in Kansas City.

Impact It was a strong outing from Rodon, who set a new season high with 10 strikeouts while pitching into the seventh inning for the first time this year. However, he'd be stuck with the loss, as the Yankees offense couldn't provide enough run support in the 3-2 defeat. Rodon's now struck out 19 in his last two starts (11.2 innings), allowing four runs in that span. He'll carry a 5.90 ERA into his next outing, currently scheduled as a home matchup with the Diamondbacks.

Fans nine in third win Rodon (3-5) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out nine.
Impact The nine strikeouts were a season high for the veteran southpaw, who generated 16 swinging strikes among his 93 pitches. Rodon also walked more than two batters for the first time since Aug. 1 though, and he served up at least one homer for the seventh straight outing, in this case the first career long ball for rookie Ceddanne Rafaela. Since returning to the rotation in late August after recovering from a hamstring issue, Rodon has a 4.81 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB through 24.1 innings, numbers which represent a marginal improvement on his performance through his first six starts as a Yankee. He'll try to build on this performance when he next takes the mound, which is likely to happen this weekend in Pittsburgh.

Destroyed by Detroit Rodon (2-5) took the loss Thursday, allowing seven runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings in a 10-3 loss to Detroit. He struck out four without issuing any walks.
Impact The 30-year-old spotted the Tigers a two-run lead before registering an out Thursday, allowing a leadoff double to Matt Vierling before Spencer Torkelson hit a wall-scraping homer to right field. Rodon surrendered five more runs across the third and fourth frames, resulting in an early exit with a season-high seven runs charged to his line. After back-to-back campaigns with a sub-three ERA, the southpaw has endured a tumultuous first season in New York, compiling a 2-5 record with an unsightly 6.60 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a disappointing 1.95 K/BB ratio across 10 starts (46.1 innings). Tosses five innings in win Rodon (2-4) pitched five innings, surrendering two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out four batters on his way to a win in Friday's 6-2 victory over the Astros.
Impact Rodon put together another strong start Friday, allowing two or fewer runs for the third straight outing. He gave up a solo homer to Jose Abreu in the bottom of the second and then an RBI-double by Kyle Tucker in the third accounted for the final run on the left-hander's line. Since Aug. 22, Rodon has posted a 2.87 ERA over 15.2 innings in three starts.

Impact The Rays piled on two runs versus Rodon in the first inning off an error and a solo home run by Brandon Lowe. Rodon went on to retire 11 straight batters but got himself into trouble in the fifth with two walks and was pulled in favor of Ian Hamilton after 84 pitches. The 30-year-old registered a season-high seven strikeouts and allowed only two hard-hit balls but failed to reach five innings for the third time in his last four starts. Rodon now owns a 5.97 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 33:20 K:BB in 37.2 innings. He went winless in August and will look to change his fortunes in a matchup against the Astros his next time out.
