Impact Salazar will rejoin the big-league squad to provide the Astros with an additional bench bat as Ben Gamel (fibula) moves to the injured list. Salazar has gone 7-for-23 with eight RBI through 10 games in the majors, but he may struggle to receive playing time while acting as Houston's No. 3 catcher.

Impact The move is to make room on the 26-man roster for Victor Caratini (hip), who was activated off the 10-day injured list Monday. Salazar has served as the backup catcher since he was initially called up June 11, and across nine major-league games he went 7-for-22 with two doubles and eight RBI. In Triple-A this season, Salazar is slashing .274/.387/.458 with six home runs and 35 RBI across 204 plate appearances.

Impact After being sent down to Sugar Land on Monday, Salazar will return to the big leagues and replace Yordan Alvarez (oblique) on the 26-man roster after Alvarez was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. Salazar has gone 2-for-14 with a run scored over limited action with the Astros this season and he'll likely operate as an additional bat off the bench while drawing an occasional start behind the plate for the time being.
