Riding five-game hitting streak McCormick went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, and a stolen base Sunday against Atlanta.

Impact McCormick earned his fifth start in a row and has tallied a hit in each game. In that stretch, he's maintained a .350 batting average with one home run, six RBI and four runs scored. In addition to the playing time security stemming from his strong play, McCormick should be helped by the absence of Aledmys Diaz (groin).

Impact McCormick has shifted into a timeshare with Mauricio Dubon in center field, and he's started only four of the team's last eight games. Even prior to Thursday's outburst, he has hit well of late by collecting at least one hit in four of his last five games. He also has eight RBI and three runs scored in that span. For the season, McCormick now has a .238/.323/.426 slash line across 300 plate appearances.

Impact The Astros are still settling on their best combination in the outfield and designated hitter after the acquisition of Trey Mancini. McCormick was in the lineup for the second consecutive day Friday, but each of those starts have come with Aledmys Diaz (finger) and Kyle Tucker (illness) unavailable. McCormick has been sporadically productive -- he's maintained a .237/.327/.424 line across 269 plate appearances for the season -- but he is likely to lose considerable playing time once Diaz and Tucker are back.

With the addition of Trey Mancini to the Astros' roster, McCormick's already shaky case for playing time is in more danger. He could get a short-term boost if Kyle Tucker (illness) misses more than just Thursday's game, but it appears McCormick is soon to be mainly a bench option.
