Impact Gonzalez had an unpleasant start to the latter half of the season after making the start Friday in place of Anthony Senzatela (COVID-19). The 29-year-old got beat up by the Dodgers, allowing five runs in the first inning capped off by a Chris Taylor three-run home run. He has allowed at least one home run in his last seven starts. On the season, he has a 5.99 ERA and a very low 5.2 K/9 over 85.2 innings.

Impact Gonzalez had his best start of the month after holding the Brewers to one run over five innings. He had previously allowed a combined 18 runs over his last three starts and was blown up for six runs against the Brewers on June 20 so it was nice to see him have a bounce-back performance. His lone blemish was allowing a solo home run to Keston Hiura in the third as his strong effort went to waste with the Rockies being shut out. Gonzalez owns a 5.81 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 41:20 K:BB over 69.2 innings so far this season. He lines up for a favorable matchup against the Cardinals later in the week but is still a risky streaming option given the fact that the game is in Colorado and he owns a 6.81 ERA over 37 innings at Coors Field this year.

Impact Gonzalez made his second start following two weeks in a long-relief role and while his numbers weren't eye-popping, he still limited one of the best offenses in the National League to "only" four runs while covering six frames, which is an upgrade compared to his previous outing. Gonzalez's presence in the rotation will depend heavily on whether Jon Gray (elbow) is able to return before the weekend or not, but if that's not the case, then Gonzalez would be tentatively expected to take the ball during the upcoming weekend series against the Brewers at home. If Gray is able to return, then Gonzalez would move back to the bullpen.

Gonzalez failed to impress in his road outing against the Marlins, covering five frames in the start but giving up a season-high eight runs on 11 hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk while striking out six. Though Gray has resumed playing catch, he's likely a week or longer away from returning from the IL, so Gonzalez will pick up another start in spite of his rough showing in Miami. Gonzalez shouldn't be expected to deliver dramatically better results as he returns to hitter-friendly Coors Field for his ninth start of the campaign.
