Jimmy Herget - Claimed and optioned by Cubs The Cubs claimed Herget off waivers from Atlanta and optioned him to Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact Herget made eight appearances for Atlanta before being optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Aug. 19, posting a 4.38 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 12.1 major-league innings. He was DFA'd by Atlanta on Wednesday, and after being claimed off waivers by the Club, he will stay in Triple-A and report to Iowa. Brennan Davis (ankle) was recalled from Iowa and transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

Brennen Davis - Placed on MLB 60-day IL The Cubs recalled Davis from Triple-A Iowa on Friday and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a left ankle fracture, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Impact Davis recently returned to action at Triple-A after missing two months with a back fracture, but his season will now end prematurely due to his fractured ankle. Placing him on the big-league 60-day IL opens a spot on the 40-man roster for Jimmy Herget, who was claimed off waivers from Atlanta on Friday and will report to Iowa.

Jordan Wicks - Roughed up in no-decision Wicks did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and four walks over three innings while striking out two.
Impact Wicks got off to a horrendous start, surrendering a leadoff homer to Shohei Ohtani to open the game, followed by three-consecutive home runs with two outs in the frame. The lefty would only make it through three innings after allowing a season-high seven runs, but still managed to avoid taking the loss thanks to a productive day on offense for Chicago. The four long balls allowed also marked a season high for Wicks and now carries a 7.62 ERA in September through three starts. Additionally, he's now issued four walks in back-to-back outings.

Shota Imanaga - Earns win despite home run issues Imanaga (13-3) got the win over the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four over seven innings.
Impact Imanaga was hurt by the home run ball, allowing three solo home runs for the only major damage against him, including two home runs versus Tommy Edman. He was awarded a fourth straight victory after the Cubs rallied in the eighth for five runs to put him in line for the win. Imanaga has now reached seven innings in three of his last four starts and Tuesday was his eighth start this season not allowing a walk.
