Impact Davis dealt with back issues through the regular season and underwent surgery to help address the issue in early June. He returned in mid-August but slashed just .168/.309/.297 the rest of the way. The Fall League was supposed to give him the chance to make up for lost development time, but the recurrence of his back problems cut that short after just five games.

Alexander Canario - Injured in winter league Canario suffered a severe ankle break and a shoulder injury Thursday while playing in the Dominican winter league, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Impact Canario suffered the injury after landing on first base awkwardly while trying to beat out a grounder. His expected recovery timeline is not yet clear, though it's possible the fracture is significant enough to cost him time next season. If healthy, Canario could push for a big-league role early next year, as he hit .252/.343/.556 with 37 home runs in 125 games across the three highest levels of the minors in 2022 while making the majority of his starts in center field.

Impact Crow-Armstrong was much better across 39 games in Single-A (.998 OPS) than in the 63 games he played in High-A (.832 OPS), but he closed out the season on a heater, batting .362/.408/.543 over his final 23 games. Notably, Crow-Armstrong struck out at just an 18.4 percent clip over that stretch -- a huge improvement over the nearly 30 percent figure he was sitting on in High-A before then. That said, he also drew just three walks in that span, so he clearly still has some work to do. Nonetheless, Crow-Armstrong has impressive tools and makeup, making him one of the Cubs' top prospects. He's still a couple years away from the big leagues, though.
