Impact In his second time facing the Nationals in as many starts, Steele recorded a quality start but failed to record the win. This time he was even better, holding the Nationals to just one unearned run which came across to score in the sixth inning. The mini streak of quality starts is a welcome sign for Steele as he had failed to do so in his previous three starts. He will take a 3.43 ERA into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday against Milwaukee.

Impact Chicago used five relievers before turning to Leiter, but he made the most of the opportunity with a lead and earned his first MLB save. The righty has quietly been pretty solid since getting recalled from Triple-A Iowa on July 30, recording a 1.46 ERA across 12.1 innings. Leiter is still more of a long reliever for the Cubs, so he shouldn't see regular save chances moving forward.

Impact Hoerner has been on fire this month, as he's now batting .380 in August with five extra-base hits and six RBI across 14 games. The shortstop has also stolen three bases this month and 13 for the season. Hoerner has been impressive, and the 25-year-old could be moving up fantasy draft boards heading into 2023.

Impact That's not exactly the stat line you want to see from your most advanced pitching prospect after his first taste of the majors, but Kilian has never been a super-high-upside arm. The 25-year-old's season-long WHIP in Triple-A is a poor 1.40, and while Kilian has shown notable strikeout ability, he hasn't pitched deep into games very often and is walking far too many batters. The Cubs are still treating him as a potential starter in the long run, but there's relief risk here.

Impact It's been the same story for Alcantara for much of the season -- lengthy skids with a few big games interspersed. Those big games have served to keep his batting line at an acceptable .256/.348/.435, and his raw talent isn't in question, but the inconsistency means Alcantara has a lot of work to do before he sniffs the major leagues.

The 20-year-old outfielder also has a meager 5.7 percent walk rate at the higher level. Crow-Armstrong was far better on both counts earlier this season in Single-A, where he struck out at a terrific 17.6 percent clip while posting a 12.4 percent walk rate. While his power and speed have remained intact -- he's now up to 16 homers and 27 steals -- Crow-Armstrong clearly has to make some adjustments to get his plate discipline back on track.
