Marcus Stroman - Beginning rehab assignment Sunday Stroman (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Impact Stroman has been throwing consistently over the last week, and he reached 40 pitches during a bullpen session last Saturday before throwing 36 pitches in a live batting practice session Tuesday. The right-hander threw another bullpen Friday and has now been cleared to return to game action with the Triple-A club. It's not yet clear how many rehab starts he'll require, but he's closing in on a return.

Impact Despite the three hits, Happ managed to not score or record any RBI in the 6-5 Cubs win. It was still a good performance for the outfielder, who has six hits across his last three games and is now batting .286 this year. Happ's career best for batting average in a season is .264, which he recorded across 58 games back in 2019. He hit just .226 across 148 games last year.

Brandon Hughes - Earns first MLB win Hughes (1-0) worked around two hits and a walk to pitch a scoreless inning of relief and earn the win Friday against the Red Sox. He struck out two.

Impact Appearing in his 16th game at the MLB level, Hughes earned his first win, though he didn't make it easy. Coming on with one on and one out in the sixth, he struck out the first hitter he faced, but then allowed a single and a walk to load the bases. Another single brought home an inherited runner to make it 5-3 Boston, but a play at the plate prevented any more damage. The Cubs then rallied to score three in the bottom of the inning to set Hughes up for the win. The lefty has a 4.26 ERA and 1.37 WHIP across 19 innings this year and should remain in a middle relief role for now.

Alec Mills - Gets another start Mills will start Saturday's home game against the Red Sox.

Impact Mills replaced Matt Swarmer in the rotation last weekend in St. Louis, and like Swarmer before him, the 30-year-old proved vulnerable to the long ball. He served up three home runs en route to taking a loss to the Cardinals, giving up five earned runs on six hits and one walk across 2.2 innings. Mills will get a chance to redeem himself Saturday, but regardless of how he performs against the Red Sox or in any starts that might follow, he'll be at risk of moving back to the bullpen as soon as one of Marcus Stroman (shoulder), Drew Smyly (oblique) or Wade Miley (shoulder) returns from the injured list.

He'll have to keep showing power to remain the above-average hitter he's been thus far, as his 30.0 percent strikeout rate suggests his .281 batting average is due to drop soon.

David Robertson - Picks up 10th save Robertson earned his 10th save of the year Friday against the Red Sox, retiring the side in order in the ninth inning.

Impact Robertson was tasked with protecting a one-run lead and got the job done in straightforward fashion, needing just eight pitches to get a flyout and a pair of groundouts. The outing lowered his ERA to 1.80. Just how many more saves he'll record for the Cubs is unclear, as the 37-year-old is on an expiring contract and should be a trade target for several contenders.

Impact The Cubs would eventually come back to win, but Sampson's second start of the year wasn't one to write home about. He got off to the worst possible start, allowing a homer to Jarren Duran on the first pitch of the game. He then went on to allow a three-run double in the second inning and was pulled after allowing a one-out single in the sixth inning to Trevor Story, who would come around to score. Sampson will look to get back on track Wednesday against the Brewers.
