Kyle Hendricks - Solid in no-decision Hendricks didn't factor into the decision Friday against Toronto, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits over five innings. He struck out two.

Impact Hendricks held the Blue Jays to one unearned run through his first four innings before Leo Jimenez tied the game 2-2 with a solo homer to lead off the fifth. While it's been a tough year overall for Hendricks, the veteran right-hander has looked better of late, holding opponents to three runs or fewer in five of his last six outings. Overall, Hendricks is 3-10 with a 6.35 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 67:27 K:BB across 96.1 innings this season. He's currently lined up to face the Tigers at home next week in his next start.

Héctor Neris - Stumbles in fifth blown save Neris was charged with a blown save Friday, allowing three runs on four hits in the ninth inning. He struck out two.

Impact Neris allowed singles to three of the first four batters he faced in the ninth inning before George Springer tied the game with a two-out, two-run triple. It's the first blown save for Neris since June 17 -- he allowed just two runs in his subsequent 15.1 innings prior to Friday. The 35-year-old Neris' ERA is now up to 3.98 on the year with a 1.51 WHIP and 45:26 K:BB across 43 innings. He's converted 17 of 22 save chances.

Cole Mathis - Gets Tommy John surgery Mathis announced Thursday via his personal Instagram account that he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

Impact The No. 54 overall pick in this past June's First-Year Player Draft, Mathis will have to wait until 2025 to make his professional debut. As a position player, Mathis won't require the year-plus-long recovery process that pitchers face for Tommy John surgery, but the 21-year-old still may not be fully cleared for the start of the 2025 minor-league season. Mathis could also be limited to playing designated hitter early on in the 2025 campaign if he hasn't completed his throwing program by the end of the spring.
