Nate Pearson - Traded to Cubs The Blue Jays traded Pearson to the Cubs on Saturday in exchange for Josh Rivera and Yohendrick Pinango, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports. Impact Pearson, a first-round pick out of Central Florida CC in 2017, made his major-league debut with the Blue Jays in 2020. Across 41 outings this season, Pearson has a 5.63 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 51:17 K:BB across 40 innings, though he has given up six runs across his last three appearances, including four runs against the Diamondbacks on July 13. He'll join a Chicago bullpen that has seven relievers on the injured list, including five on the 60-day IL. The 27-year-old Pearson will be under team control through 2026, per Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune.
